Andrew Ro, Managing Partner
Mr. Ro is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner for AOV Capital Management (AOV Capital). Mr. Ro has over 20 years of
experience in the financial markets ranging from trading global futures and equity markets, senior secured debt, convertible
securities, private investments in public equities (PIPEs) and investing.
Prior to forming AOV Capital, Mr. Ro was a Consultant and Registered Representative with boutique investment and merchant
banks where he consulted and advised US and international companies on capital markets, operational, and regulatory issues as
well as involved in capital raising, mergers & acquisitions, and strategic implementation. Mr. Ro was also involved in the fixed
income operations including sales & trading for a Public Finance group and was involved in an acquisition strategy of acquiring
asset managers and investment advisors.
Prior to being a Registered Representative, Mr. Ro was a Partner with Laurus / Valens Capital Management, which managed
three investment Funds – Laurus Funds, Valens Funds and PSource Structured Debt. Mr. Ro was part of the initial deal team of
five professionals which grew to well over 110 professionals growing assets to $2.5 billion during his tenure. He was involved in
originating, structuring, negotiating and closing financing transactions providing growth capital, acquisition financing,
recapitalization, restructuring and general working capital to late-stage venture, distressed and middle market companies across
all industries and sectors. Mr. Ro originated and structured over $2 billion in total commitments and financings.
During his tenure, Laurus won MARHedge MAPA, “Niche Strategy / Innovation” in 2005 and was nominated in 2006. Laurus also
won the Absolute Return Awards, “Company of the Year – Arbitrage and Convertible” in 2006.
Prior to Laurus, Mr. Ro was Managing Director of M&A International & Investments LLC, a consulting and advisory company to
international private and public companies. In addition, he was Co-Founder and Chief Operations Officer for Velocity Trade, LLC
an application service provider (ASP) dedicated to the financial futures trading community. Prior to Velocity Trade, Mr. Ro was a
trader for International Futures Corporation, a commodity brokerage firm, and successor firms where he managed the trading
desk for institutional and retailer traders. Mr. Ro graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor in Science in
Economics. He also holds a Series 3 (inactive), Series 7, Series 63 and Series 79 securities and commodity licenses.
